Lego ornament

Super simple great gift for my nephew. Plastic bulb and some Legos. This one cost me just under $2. 

Take the silver top off the bulb fill with Legos and put the top back on. Add ribbon and a date and the gift is ready to go. 

Corn hole bags and boards

Ask and you shall receive. The firehouse wanted corn hole boards and one of the members made us personalized boards. To go with these great boards we needed some great bags to play with. 

I started with 8 squares of each color, red and blue, about 7"x7" each. I embroidered the top of each bag, four in each color. 

Then I sewed 3 of the 4 sides, trimmed the corners to make the corners lay flat. 

Flip the bag right side out. Fill with corn and see closed.

And these great bags are a ton of fun to play with on these great boards. 

Shells and sand shadow box

This is going to be a gift for my mom from my niece. 

Start with a piece of scrapbook paper. Cut it to size, my shadow box was 8"x8".

Pick put some shells that will fit into the frame. 

Add a title to the scrapbook paper. 

Put the shells, sand, and scrapbook paper into the frame. 

Hot glue it sealed, add some love notes on the back and it is ready to be given as a gift. 

Marble maze

Starting early for Christmas. This is a little adder gift for one of the boys, they are made to keep little heads busy and quiet. 

Start out with 2 squares of fabric, I used fleece because that is what I had laying around. The squares are 8"x8"

Pick a marble ( I used a small rock that I had laying around)

Sew around the edge to make the putter edge. Make sure you leave an opening at the bottom to be able to put the marble in. 

Next I drew the lines that I would follow to make the maze. 

Finally sew the lines. Pop the marble in sew the bottom hole and let the little one have fun. 

Lacrosse anyone?

A gift for a coach. A little orange vinyl and some embroidery makes something personal and special. Hope she likes it. 

Book bag

Today I kept it simple. My sister was looking for a bag for the independent reading books in her classroom, with some easy straight stiitches I made her a quick bag out of duck cloth with Velcro closure and a tab on the back to hang from a hook.  I also added a little embroidery so she can see which book is in which bag. One down 34 more to go. 

Felt road

This was a easy project for a gift for Great little boy. 

These were all made with felt from Joann fabrics. They had a sale on felt today so it was a great time to get what I wanted. The bolt was 72" wide and I bought about 12" worth of fabric. 

For about $1 I was able to make 2 intersections, 10 long straight aways, 8 short roads, 2 big L bends, 2 U-turns, 2 small bends, and 1 big bend. 

First cut the felt about 3" wide. This should fit 2 matchbox size cars side by side on the road at one time. This is where you can get creative with the type of road you want to make. I kept it pretty simple since I knew I was sewing yellow lines in the middle. 

Then I set my sewing guide (yes masking tape on the sewing arm). I measured about 1-1/2" from the needle which gave me the line in the middle if the road. 

Sew the lines. I used yellow thread on the charcoal felt in a zig-zag pattern. 

Sew all of the pieces and let the kids have fun with it. This shows all the of different pieces that I made. 

These are the U-turns and bends. 

These are the straight aways. 

Total time from start to finish was about a hour. 

And what good would a felt road be without somewhere to store it. So I also made this great little bag to store it in. Even used a play on words to embroider his name on it. For the draw strings I used a pair of shoe strings I had laying around. 

Melty beads

Got this idea off Pinterest. 

Take all of those leftover pony beads that you still haven't used and make magnets. 

Pony beads

Put them into a metal container and bake for 20 minutes at 400 degrees in the oven. 

When it comes out of the oven let it sit for about 5 minutes while it hardens up completely. Then I put the metal bowl in a container of ice water to help release to bead creation. 

After I pulled it out of the metal bowl and let it cool completely I put two magnets of the back and it was finished. 

We also made these two others for Christmas gifts.

Early Christmas

Starting Christmas early. This is for my wonderful youngest niece, Sophia. It is a linen handkerchief embroidered with her picture and name. 

Happy 40th

My brother in law turns 40 on Tuesday. We are having a surprise party for him tonight so I decided to make him a shirt to show off his new age.

I have the idea all laid out and it's being worked on by the wonderful machine. 

Yes that is a florescent yellow tshirt

Finally he gets to wear the shirt, and of course he loves it!

Towel poncho

Made this for my 3 year old niece. She is in live with Minnie. 

This is super easy to make. I didn't do step by step photos on this one. 

Take a regular size bath towel and fold it in half. Measure and cut a hole that is big enough for your child's head. I stitched around the slit to make the head hole. 

I used a hand towel that already had Minnie on it to make the pocket (I cut the pocket just enough to are the embroidery.) attached it with a straight stitch and added snaps. On each side. Now she is ready to go to the beach. 

Tickets

What a great way to show off all those ticket stubs from all the great times you've had. 

What you need:

1 shadow box (I used an 8x10 from Joann fabrics)

1 piece of scrapbook paper for the background

1 package of letters (had them left over from the spoon project)

And all those loose ticket stubs

This is the shadow box

Cut the background paper to fit into your shadow box

Use the scrapbook letters to title your box. I went simple and just said "TICKETS" 

Finally add your tickets and display. 

I have seen these on other sites made with a slit in the top so you can add tickets as you get them. I didn't do that since this will only be opened 2 or 3 times a year to add things to it.
